Discovery Scripture Study
Open the Torah. Hear the portion. Discover what the text says. Walk it out together.
DSS will follow the standard annual Torah Portion cycle. Each weekly gathering will keep the text central, help learners retell and examine the passage, trace responsible Covenant connections, and move discovery toward obedience and witness.
Read
Hear the assigned Torah Portion carefully and repeatedly.
Retell
Put the passage into your own words without replacing its meaning.
Observe
Notice people, actions, commands, warnings, promises, and patterns.
Connect
Follow the passage through the Covenant story and the witness of Yeshua.
Obey
Name one concrete act of faithfulness for the coming week.
Share
Carry what you learned into the household and the neighborhood.

Wisdom in Torah
Study Ladder
The Wisdom in Torah Study Ladder taught by Rico Cortes governs how the Institute investigates a passage before drawing conclusions.
Begin with the biblical text to establish the question. Work through each relevant level of context, record a research gap when evidence is missing, and then return to the text. Teacher claims, Scripture, historical evidence, scholarship, and Institute conclusions must remain distinguishable.

Biblical archaeology
Examine material remains, plans, inscriptions, and proposed reconstructions without treating a model as proof.

Cultural context
Ask how the people of the passage understood honor, household, worship, law, work, status, and community.

Historical context
Place the text within the right period, rulers, conflicts, institutions, and documented events.

Geographical context
Locate the land, city, routes, terrain, boundaries, and distances that shape the passage.

Context of the Temple
Study priesthood, offerings, sacred space, service, access, holiness, and purity. Examine the relevant Levitical Law as its own subsection.

Context of the book or letter
Read the passage within the purpose, audience, structure, and argument of the complete writing.

Context of the chapter
Follow the immediate flow before separating a sentence or verse from its setting.

Biblical text
Return to the passage and state what the evidence establishes, what remains interpretation, and what is still unknown.
Source boundary
The Wisdom in Torah Study Ladder is attributed to Rico Cortes and Wisdom in Torah Ministries. The explicit Levitical Law subsection under Temple context is the Institute’s required addition. Attribution does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or transfer of ownership.
The source stewardship standard
Honor the work.
Name the boundaries.
Teach it faithfully
Represent each author’s published argument as the author wrote it before offering agreement, disagreement, or Institute commentary.
Purchase at the source
Students obtain required books and paid resources directly from the author, ministry, publisher, or approved seller linked by that source.
Separate the voices
Course materials distinguish the author’s claims, the primary evidence, and the Institute’s conclusions so the learner can examine each honestly.
Return learners to the teacher
Where an author offers advanced study or recognized credentials, learners are directed there. The Institute does not imitate or replace them.
Use only what is permitted
Substantial excerpts, images, logos, and protected reproductions wait for permission. Public links and brief attribution do not imply partnership or endorsement.
Practice civil discourse
Ideas, texts, and historical claims may be examined without contempt for people. Disagreement does not cancel love, dignity, or honest conversation.
A shared provision
No one is turned away merely because they cannot afford to study.
Access decisions will follow the actual cost and form of the seven-year plan and DSS after both pathways are ready.

The order matters. The Institute will build and test these two paths before opening enrollment or returning to the certificate courses now held for later development.
Build the two pathways
Develop the seven-year whole-Bible plan and Discovery Scripture Study as the Institute’s two public learning paths.
Complete the Torah Portion guides
Build each DSS gathering around the standard annual Torah Portion cycle, with observation, retelling, Covenant connections, obedience, and witness.
Pilot before enrollment
Test both pathways with a small learning community, revise from evidence, and establish the actual schedule and learner expectations before opening enrollment.
Document faithful completion
Develop honest completion standards for the seven-year plan and DSS. Other course concepts remain shelved for later certificate pathways.

People of His Book Institute™ exists to provide careful, structured Scripture education outside unnecessary financial, denominational, and academic barriers.
We read in context, let Scripture interpret Scripture, distinguish direct statement from interpretation, test evidence honestly, and ask what faithful obedience looks like when the lesson ends.
